NH Gives 2024 Nonprofit Spotlight: GoodWork

In light of NH Gives starting today, we’re spotlighting the first organization LeMay Family Goodworks will be supporting: GoodWork! This unique New Hampshire nonprofit provides an incubator program for emerging nonprofits led by a diverse, experienced team.

We are excited to donate to GoodWork, which aligns with our Community pillar, and act as boots on the ground for their future needs! Read on to learn more about their program and mission.

And stay tuned as we share three more organizations that are new to us this week for NH Gives!

About GoodWork

GoodWork aims “to strengthen Greater Seacoast nonprofits by maximizing their capacity to meet community needs. [They] do this by providing customized strategic support, knowledge, and networking opportunities, and affordable live, work, and meeting space.”

To that end, GoodWork provides a nonprofit incubator program, educational and networking sessions, and meeting and event space rentals.

For their incubator program, the organization has assembled a team of professional partners, coaches, and mentors who facilitate learning and guide participants on their path toward success. This dynamic team helps each nonprofit develop and fortify their organization, enhancing their strengths and skills.

GoodWork explains that their executive coaches work with nonprofit leaders and teams to:

  • Improve systems

  • Enhance communication

  • Support the development of leadership, staff, and board

  • Reduce conflict

  • Clarify their mission and strategic vision

They have also built a network of professional partners, including business leaders, consultants, and nonprofit experts to advise incubator participants. From marketing to fundraising to board management and many areas in between, each pro provides priceless guidance with their unique experience and perspectives.

Finally are the mentors, current or former nonprofit executives who offer their knowledge and experience to assist participants as they network and build social capital. GoodWork’s leadership team selects mentors and matches them with incubator participants based on their growth needs, field of work, and personality fit. They aid emerging New Hampshire Seacoast nonprofits with organizational support, inclusion in networking events, and professional development opportunities.

GoodWork Gatherings

Additionally, GoodWork has created a platform for nonprofits “to foster connections, acquire knowledge, and ignite action” through the GoodWork Gatherings series. These presentations, given by thought leaders, cover common nonprofit needs and challenges. These free seminars address topics like corporate sponsorships and board development, offering enlightening conversation and networking opportunities.

Carey Cottage

GoodWork is headquartered at the stunning Carey Cottage in Portsmouth, which features various meeting and event spaces for rent. This beautiful facility offers scenic views of Sagamore Creek and affordable meeting and coworking spaces.

Nonprofits receive two hours free in any meeting room, then get nonprofit rental rates. This benefit is available once a month during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Choose a room based on your meeting or event needs and size. Spaces are also available to for-profit teams at regular rates.

Supporting GoodWork

The beauty of supporting GoodWork is that it has a ripple effect as they continue helping other organizations make an impact in our community! By doing so, you’ll help them meet their mission of supporting, developing, and strengthening Seacoast nonprofits.
