Week 46 of #52weeksofgiving - The Chase Home - Portsmouth, NH

We are happy to spotlight The Chase Home for week 46 of #52weeksofgiving following their 8th Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting last week! LeMay Family Goodworks was proud to be the presenting sponsor for this incredible evening. Proceeds from the event directly impact the lives of at-risk kids and their families throughout New Hampshire.

Guests enjoyed delicious local chocolates by La Cascade du Chocolat, Enna Chocolate, and Wm Poole Confections, along with hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, premier wine, a live and silent auction, and a fund-a-need segment. Plus, we were treated to a beautiful live performance from NBC’s The Voice contestant Cara Brindisi! Thank you to Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club for hosting, and to all who sponsored and attended to support this amazing cause.

In an email thanking sponsors, Robert Levy, President of The Chase Home Board, said, “Last night’s event was remarkable on many levels, and you played an instrumental role in not just raising a substantial amount of money…but helping change the lives of kids in difficult circumstances. … For me personally, the work Chase Home does is incredibly meaningful, as I have experienced the turmoil and heartache of broken lives from the perspective of a parent. In a very real way, your support has touched my own life, and I thank you.”

LeMay Family Goodworks team members Michelle, Denise, Ian, and Hannah had quite a memorable evening and appreciate the opportunity to help make a difference for local youth! Read on to learn more about The Chase Home and why we’re so passionate about their cause.

About The Chase Home

The Chase Home is one of the oldest nonprofits in New Hampshire, having served at-risk youth and their families since its founding as an orphanage in 1877. They are “dedicated to providing supportive and restorative residential and family services to at-risk youth in a safe and nurturing environment.

Today, The Chase Home is no longer an orphanage but helps children live healthier and happier lives through their many services and programs, both in the community and onsite where some kids live. The organization has expanded services in recent years to boost community access and prevent certain issues resulting in negative life outcomes.

The New Hampshire nonprofit provides “24/7 wrap-around, evidence-based clinical support(s) and services through programs designed to help at-risk youth, ages 11 to 21, build tangible life skills across all areas of their respective lives.” These programs include:

  • Residential Treatment Services: Young adults ages 11 to 19 live at The Chase Home, receive therapeutic services, and develop healthy coping skills and tools.

  • Home-Based Program: At-risk youth who need support as they transition back from the residential program or want to avoid residential placement receive support in the community and their homes.

  • Seacoast Community Diversion Program: Youth and families in distress in Portsmouth, NH, and several surrounding Seacoast towns access therapeutic groups and group, individual, and substance abuse counseling with a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC).

  • Independent Living Program: ILP assists young adults aged 18 to 21 in transitioning from living at The Chase Home or with their parents in distressed circumstances into independent living with comprehensive therapeutic, vocational, and clinical support.

  • Summer Program: Over a few weeks, youth learn important skills like self-efficacy, self-esteem, and problem-solving through carefully planned activities.

How You Can Support At-Risk Youth

The Chase Home relies on community support to continue helping at-risk youth gain the necessary skills for adulthood and achieving their dreams. Donations allow the organization to enrich the lives of kids struggling with behavioral issues, mental health issues, substance abuse, and more.

If you’d like to help them on their mission, you can:

  • Donate: Make an easy online donation. You can even support a specific campaign, such as their Life Enhancement Opportunities and Summer Program.

  • Make an in-kind donation: Contact The Chase Home to find out what goods they could use for their Residential Treatment Services program.

  • Attend/sponsor an event: Keep an eye out for the next fundraiser, such as the Annual Wine & Chocolate Tasting or Hit a Home Run for the Kids!
