Introducing the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club: Seacoast Kids Giving Back

The LeMay Family Goodworks team are excited to announce the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club!

With Michelle’s vision and Beau’s input as an ambassador, we created this kids’ club for giving and already have some exciting efforts planned. Read on to learn more about our latest project!

About the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club

Beau invites kids throughout the New Hampshire Seacoast and surrounding communities who want to give back regularly to become members of this new initiative. We will hold get-togethers at least once a month where we will participate in a local community service event followed by a social activity!

The Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club is on a mission to:

  • Raise goodness

  • Be a flagship for our next generation of young leaders

  • Model generosity, kindness, and empathy

  • Guide, teach, and inspire our youth into action through serving and giving back

  • Help kids make the world a better place for all

The club’s name was inspired by Keith Urban’s song, “Raise ‘Em Up,” featuring Eric Church. One of the verses that we strive to emulate is:

Raise 'em up
You got a voice, you got a choice
Go make some noise
Don't ever let 'em tell you who you are
Raise 'em up
Fist black and blue, fight for the truth
It's what you do
Hand on your heart for the stripes and stars

Through this club, Beau hopes to inspire his peers to do good and stand up for what’s right in their community. That includes helping others who are unable to help or speak up for themselves.

Kickoff Event: Blue Ocean Discovery Center Beach Cleanup

Beau introduces the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club, plus a few shots from our cleanup at Hampton Beach!

Beau and the first members of the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club kicked things off by pitching in at the public beach cleanup at the Blue Ocean Discovery Center in Hampton this morning! Despite the clouds, we had a wonderful time tidying up some of Hampton Beach. Everyone enjoyed some well-deserved lunch and ice cream at the Beach Plum after volunteering.

If you’ve been part of the LeMay Family Goodworks community for some time, you might know that Beau is passionate about caring for the planet with a particular interest in marine conservation. This past February, he celebrated his birthday by asking his party guests to donate to the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation. And last summer, Beau, his big brother Tad, and his friends Isabelle and Jameson held their own beach cleanup in Nantucket inspired by 4ocean.

So it’s only fitting that the Raise ‘Em Up Kids Club launched with a Blue Ocean Society beach cleanup! This amazing organization aims “to protect marine life in the Gulf of Maine through research, education, and inspiring action.” They focus primarily on Jeffreys Ledge, located just 20 miles off the New Hampshire/Massachusetts coast and home to numerous sea creatures.

The Blue Ocean Society works to protect this delicate ecosystem through:

  • Whale Research: They study the behavior and populations of Gulf of Maine fins, humpbacks, and minke whales.

  • Education: The Blue Ocean Discovery Center offers various hands-on experiences for people of all ages to learn about marine life and human impact, from whale watches to school programs.

  • Inspired Action: In addition to regular beach cleanups, the Blue Ocean Society runs pollution prevention campaigns and provides guidance on taking steps to benefit the Gulf of Maine marine life.
