Week 52 off #52weeksofgiving - SABR TOPSoccer - Boca Raton, FL

It’s hard to believe, but week 52 of #52weeksofgiving is here! For the final week of 2022, LeMay Family Goodworks is excited to feature TOPSoccer of Boca Raton, FL, as we renew our corporate sponsorship with them for 2023.

The Boca Raton TOPSoccer division is run by the Soccer Association of Boca Raton (SABR). As the LeMay family heads to Boca to celebrate the New Year, we wish to highlight the organization during our travels. We will also be volunteering during our visits throughout the season and look forward to reconnecting with the program’s wonderful organizers, volunteers, and young athletes!

Read on to learn more about the SABR TOPSoccer program and how you can help.

About SABR TOPSoccer

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) was created by US Youth Soccer to give children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities the opportunity to play soccer. The community-based training and participation program provides an easygoing and fun environment for these special young people through modified game play.

Each athlete is paired with a Buddy, typically a teen, who works with them at practices and cheers them on throughout the season. TOPSoccer players boost their:

  • Athletic skills

  • Social and teamwork skills

  • Confidence

  • Perseverance

…all while building lifelong friendships with their fellow players and Buddies!

SABR was among the first US Youth Soccer Clubs to launch a TOPSoccer program in 2001. They have since helped the Florida Youth Soccer Association launch programs with clubs throughout the state and continue sharing their experiences with clubs nationwide.

According to SABR, when they launched TOPSoccer their three main goals were to give:

  • Challenged children in the Boca Raton community the chance to play soccer.

  • Parents freedom to enjoy their children’s participation without volunteer or financial obligations.

  • Middle and high school students a meaningful community service experience.

They have surpassed these expectations every year, thanks to the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who have coached, administered, mentored Buddies, and served as Buddies. Volunteers often return season after season, while many teenage Buddies choose career paths in child development after discovering their passion.

The adaptive soccer program is available to youths from 4 to 21 years old. If you’re located in the Boca area and want to learn more about the program or register your child for the upcoming season, visit SABR TOPSoccer!
