Week 25 of #52weeksofgiving - Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity

For week 25 of #52weeksofgiving, LeMay Family Goodworks sponsored Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity’s “Building Houses, Building Hope” Garden Party! Held on June 16th at the Moffatt Ladd House Gardens, the event benefited the Veteran family build. LeMay Family Goodworks team members Denise and Caleb attended the beautiful event.

Denise and Caleb were delighted to be part of a wonderful evening for a great cause, which included delicious food, beautiful local art, a live auction, and live music. Thank you to our friend, Sandy, for sharing the Garden Party with us!

The fundraiser supported the San Miguel Project, a single-family, four bedroom, two bathroom home all on one level in Farmington, NH. All funds will be used to purchase construction materials for the home.

The new build will accommodate Albert, a disabled Army Veteran, and his family. The land is valued at $75,000 but was generously donated with the stipulation that a disabled Veteran and their family move into the home.

About Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity

Southeast New Hampshire (SENH) Habitat for Humanity aims to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat strengthens families and communities through affordable housing opportunities.

The NH nonprofit collaborates with companies, other community groups, faith-based organizations, and individual volunteers to develop communities by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable homes with hardworking people who are in need.

SENH Habitat for Humanity works with families who are above the poverty line but do not qualify for conventional mortgages. Qualified families must put in 250 “sweat equity” hours alongside staff and volunteers to build their homes. Some even help build other families’ homes! Each family pays an interest-free mortgage to Habitat, and those funds are then used to build more affordable homes.

Since their founding in 1994, SENH Habitat for Humanity has:

  • Served 19 cities and towns throughout Strafford and Rockingham Counties.

  • Rehabilitated and/or built over 30 homes in Dover, Rochester, Raymond, Gonic, Northwood, Somersworth, and Farmington.

  • Completed a four-unit community in Farmington, NH, their largest project yet.

  • Placed more than 120 people in homes in quality, affordable, safe homes.
